Pix from NHS win over Vancouver Christian
Jason Gradt celebrates his Naselle Comets 22-14 season opening victory over Vancouver Christian Friday night.
Austin Burkhalter picks up a first down on a reception in the first half Friday. Austin would prove an invaluable asset to the Comets as his brother, starting quarterback Kyle would be injured near the end of the first half, causing him to fill-in at QB. Austin tossed the game winning touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
Near the end of the second quarter, starting quarterback Kyle Burkhalter suffered a dislocated shoulder — the same shoulder that required surgery to repair a similar injury in the past. It is unclear when and if he will be able to play again this season.
In a Comets tradition, Naselle cheerleaders do push-ups following an NHS touchdown in the second quarter Friday night. The girls do one push-up for every point scored on the drive, in this case, 8.
