Comets end preseason 1-2
Naselle ended its preseason schedule with a disappointing loss to Ilwaco. On top of the loss was the bigger disappointment of losing Logan Scrabeck for the rest of the season. Logan broke his elbow on the third play of the game. Both teams started out with quick scores. Unfortunately Naselle was unable to stop Ilwaco's spread offense and Ilwaco was able to stop our offensive drives.
Next week we begin league play against Raymond at home.

Comets: Looking Forward
We had a tough loss to Ilwaco last Friday. We started out with a fumble on the first offensive play of the game. they were able to score on the resulting drive. We returned the next kickoff for a touchdown, but it would be our only score until very late in the game. Then we lost Logan. He refractured the same elbow as last year and will be out for the season. Then we lost Tommy. he played through a sprained ankle last week at home against Warrenton and resprained it this week. I went in to play for him in the first quarter until he was able to keep playing. Marcus came out with a dislocated finger on the same play. That pretty much summed up the game. We got busted up- and weren't able to play "comet football."But, on the positive side- this was not a league game. That has been one focus of our team this season. We WERE 9-2. NOW we are 0-0. Ee still believe that, and it won't change until we play Raymond this Friday. Practices are our tune-up. The past three games are learning games. As far as injuries go, we lose Logan- but we get Tony "cheetah" Fletcher this week. Tommy might play this week, and other than that, we need to remember the past three games, and learn from them. Now we need to win the next several games in order to accomplish our goal of repeating last year's success. All 31 of us know we can. But all of us know it will be hard.
