ILWACO – “We wanted to get Rey Sanchez a few more touches. He played a good game,” Ilwaco Coach Kevin McNulty dead-panned after Sanchez ran for two touchdowns and threw for three more in leading the Fishermen to a resounding 43-14 non-league win over Naselle at Peterson Field Friday.
Sanchez had run for 24 yards in his first two games at quarterback for Ilwaco, but McNulty installed a spread offense with the senior getting a direct snap from the center in shotgun formation and his first two runs from scrimmage Sanchez rambled for 24 yards on his was to 148 yards on the night on the ground and 306 yards of total offense.
