Game recap-Comets make ain'ts of Saints 34-7 in state opener, Valley next

BELLEVUE - In keeping with the musical theme for Naselle football the Comets sang a hearty chorus of "Here Comes the Sun" by shellacking Seattle Lutheran 34-7 Saturday at Sammamish High School in the opening round of the WIAA state football playoffs.

The victory means that Naselle will be matched against Valley in the elite-eight round, a team they lost to 21-6 Oct. 3. The Comets also lost to the Saints four weeks ago 22-19, but they completely dominated them in the rematch. Naselle surged ahead 20-0 with 50 seconds to go in the first half and had run for 16 first downs to one through the air for Seattle Lutheran and the Comets had the football almost 20 minutes of the first 23 played.
