With ONLY five more weeks until practices begin in August, Naselle High School has released its football schedule for the upcoming season.
As posted previously, The Comets open the season at Ilwaco for the annual Bear River Battle, followed by a non-league game with Warrenton (which has become an annual second week game for them), before jumping right into the Pacific League schedule. The Comets season could balance on a two week stretch when they will face South Bend and Valley in back-to-back games, but will have the home field advantage in both. One noticeable absence on the schedule is the annual KM Trophy game with rival Wahkiakum (which the Comets won for the first time in 14 years last season). This could however be made up on the last week of the season, depending on their place in the league standings, as they will play a crossover game with a Central League opponent. Another thing missing from the schedule, which is really too bad IMO, is no Saturday day game this year, as they have had the last couple years. Homecoming was particularly nice last year under sunny skies but oh well. Looks like homecoming will be Oct. 22 against North Beach. On the 10 week schedule Naselle only has four guaranteed home games.
Here's the full run down:
9/3 @ Ilwaco
9/10 vs. Warrenton
9/17 @ Raymond
9/24 vs. South Bend
10/1 vs. Willapa Valley

10/15 @ NW Christian
10/22 vs. North Beach
10/28 @ Ocosta **Thursday night game
