2011 Naselle football schedule

The Naselle Comets open their season as the fourth ranked team in the Tacoma News Tribune preseason rankings. They begin their highly anticipated season with rival Ilwaco in the annual Bear River Battle. The Comets have to thank the scheduling gods for the SIX home games they have. But the two back to back road games at defending state champion South Bend and then Valley a week later will likely be their toughest test once again. But seeing as how they could run the table in their other seven games, the crossover game on Nov. 5 could put them into the playoffs once again, after missing out last year.

9/2 - vs. Ilwaco
9/9 - vs. Knappa
9/16 - vs. Raymond
9/23 - @ South Bend
9/30 - @ Valley
10/7 - vs. Pe Ell
10/14 - vs. NW Christian
10/21 - @ North Beach
10/27 - vs. Ocosta
11/5 - Central-Pacific League crossover game

Naselle 2010 football schedule released

With ONLY five more weeks until practices begin in August, Naselle High School has released its football schedule for the upcoming season.
As posted previously, The Comets open the season at Ilwaco for the annual Bear River Battle, followed by a non-league game with Warrenton (which has become an annual second week game for them), before jumping right into the Pacific League schedule. The Comets season could balance on a two week stretch when they will face South Bend and Valley in back-to-back games, but will have the home field advantage in both. One noticeable absence on the schedule is the annual KM Trophy game with rival Wahkiakum (which the Comets won for the first time in 14 years last season). This could however be made up on the last week of the season, depending on their place in the league standings, as they will play a crossover game with a Central League opponent. Another thing missing from the schedule, which is really too bad IMO, is no Saturday day game this year, as they have had the last couple years. Homecoming was particularly nice last year under sunny skies but oh well. Looks like homecoming will be Oct. 22 against North Beach. On the 10 week schedule Naselle only has four guaranteed home games.

Here's the full run down:

9/3 @ Ilwaco
9/10 vs. Warrenton
9/17 @ Raymond
9/24 vs. South Bend
10/1 vs. Willapa Valley
10/8 @ Pe Ell
10/15 @ NW Christian
10/22 vs. North Beach
10/28 @ Ocosta **Thursday night game
11/5 Crossover game with Central League

*All games start at 7 p.m.

Schedules for upcoming football practices announced

By KEVIN HEIMBIGNER
Observer staff writer

NASELLE - Naselle Comets football practice will begin Aug. 19 at 3:30 p.m. at Rueben Penttila Field in Naselle. Physicals are not valid for two years and it is the responsibility of the athlete to make sure theirs is up-to-date. They are $35 per player at the Naselle Clinic.
Beginning Aug. 20 the Comets will begin doing "doubles" Eaton said of his two-practices per day schedule. Naselle's first game is September 4 when they host Wahkiakum.

Meanwhile, Coach Kevin McNulty is encouraging his Ilwaco football players to "get your paperwork in early" as the Ilwaco High School office will be open Aug. 17 and 18. The first Fishermen practice will be at Peterson Field at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19. Ilwaco will have two-a-day workouts starting Saturday, Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. with a half hour break in between. The Fishermen's first game will be at Winlock Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.

2009 NHS Comets varsity football schedule

The 10-game 2009 varsity football schedule for Naselle High School was just released, and here it is. There are several red-letter games to circle on the calendar now, including the season-opener K-M Trophy Cup game with Wahkiakum, The Battle for Bear River Ridge with Ilwaco in week 3, a rematch of last years quarterfinal game with Valley in week 5, a Saturday afternoon home game with Seattle Lutheran in week 7 and a homecoming game against South Bend the day before Halloween.
Once again the Comets will trade home and away games every week of the season. One possible advantage for the Comets is the fact that the toughest games on the schedule are at home this year — the Comets were 5-0 at home last year.
