The local high school football season kicks off tonight for both Naselle and Ilwaco high schools.
Naselle will have their home-opener, hosting Vancouver Christian, a team the Comets beat last season in their homecoming game, 54-6. For those coming out a little early, the Boosters Club will hold a salmon BBQ in the hour prior to the game.
Ilwaco gets their season started on the road, with the team they faced off against in last season's opener, Wahkiakum. Last year Wahkiakum beat Ilwaco at home, 42-40 in overtime. The Mules will likely once again be one of the top teams in the state at the 1B division.

naselle lost last year to Van. christian 28-14
My bad, Naselle beat NORTHWEST Christian 54-6 in the homecoming game last year. I got the wrong Christian, whoops, sorry.
