Pix from IHS loss to Valley, 28-8

What started out with much hope after last weeks thrilling overtime win at Wahkiakum, ended with disappointment for the Ilwaco Fishermen Friday night as they lost their home opener 28-8 to 2B powerhouse Willapa Valley.

Ilwaco's Kolby Kirby can do nothing but watch after missing a tackle as Valley's Andrew Johnson takes a fumbled punt snap down the sideline to a near score in the first quarter of Friday's game. The Vikings would score a few plays later in the drive.

Trying to make something happen in the fourth quarter, the Fishermen attempt a halfback pass play. But Ilwaco's Justin Short had the ball knocked away right as he was making the pass attempt.

Ilwaco's Eddie Knick found running lanes a hard thing to come by against a stifling Vikings defense, rather looking like a pinball most the night as he was banged around by their defensive line.

As the fourtrh quarter wore down, starting quarterback Jake Nesbitt, #1, and wide receiver Jordan DeSimone, #12, could do nothing but watch the minutes tick away from the sidelines.

Well, sad to say, Ilwaco lost its first home game.
My teammates and myself feel that we didn't play as a team. We will come back next Monday, fix all of our mistakes and prepare physically and mentally.
